On Jan. 9, 2012, Japanese Minister of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Mr. Masaharu Nakagawa, visited the“Carbon Cycle System with Natural Rubber” project at the Rubber Research Institute of Vietnam (RRIV).

The institute is responsible for researching the cooperative “Carbon Cycle System with Natural Rubber” project with leading scientists from Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and the Rubber Research Institute of Vietnam (RRIV), aiming at establishing a modern natural rubber production system.

Professor Masao Fukuda of the Nagaoka University of Technology said "the project will develop new methods of natural rubber production as well as advanced technology for rubber wastewater treatment, a process that produces methane, helping reduce consumption of synthetic rubber and the release of carbon dioxide".

It is expected that the project will contribute to minimising global warming and dealing with environmental issues such as water pollution.

On August 5^th, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) will organize a Joint Coordinating Committee’s meeting for the project “Establishment of Carbon Cycle System with Natural Rubber” at HUST, Vietnam.

Relating to the cooperative research project, JICA Chief Representative in Vietnam, Mr. TSUNO Motonori said: “With cooperation of excellent researchers from Hanoi University of Science and Technology and leading Japanese scientists from Nagaoka University of Technology I believe that the project will bring fruitful results for both Vietnam and Japan.”

An international conference called Kick-off Symposium for the Project “Establishment of Carbon-Cycle-System with Natural Rubber” has been taking place in Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam from August 2^nd to 5^th, 2011.

After a series of discussions and exchanged views of the technical groups

June 15, 2011, at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, The Kick-off Meeting was headed by Dr. Tran Van Top (Vietnam side) and Dr. Masao Fukuda  (Japan side) and the research group leaders in order to discuss the details of the project for ESCANBER.
